Iran’s delegation attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York has full authority to revive diplomacy with the United States, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in New York, is not expected to meet US President Donald Trump at the UN headquarters. The Iranian official said details of an agreement to end hostilities could be discussed through mediators in New York, noting that Tehran’s proposal had been conveyed to Washington through mediators on September 16. The official described the UN General Assembly as an opportunity for the United States to return to diplomacy and said Iran would welcome renewed talks if Washington takes tangible steps.
