Tehran, August 2, 2026(Ghufran): Iran has firmly denied U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran requested Washington to refrain from carrying out further military strikes, dismissing the allegation as false and politically motivated. According to Iran’s state-affiliated Mehr News Agency, military officials described President Trump’s remarks as “nothing but a new lie,” stressing that the Islamic Republic had made no such request to the United States. The officials further stated that Iran’s armed forces remain “on high alert and ready for any eventuality” amid ongoing regional tensions.
President Trump had earlier claimed that Iran had asked the United States to delay further military action as discussions over a possible agreement continued. He suggested that Washington had temporarily held off on additional strikes while diplomatic efforts were underway. Iranian authorities, however, categorically rejected the assertion, maintaining that no request had been made to the United States and reiterating their readiness to respond to any potential military escalation.
