Tehran, 27 October 2026 (Kamran Raja): Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have agreed to continue dialogue on regional peace and security following their first quadrilateral meeting in Tehran on October 26. According to a joint statement, the four countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and improving coordination on shared regional security concerns. The meeting brought together senior officials responsible for defence, intelligence and national security. Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei hosted the gathering in the Iranian capital, while Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Türkiye’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin participated in the discussions. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also engaged with visiting representatives. Iranian state television reported the meeting on Monday, highlighting its focus on regional stability and security cooperation. The talks took place amid wider regional tensions and continuing diplomatic efforts involving Middle Eastern countries. However, the joint statement did not announce any specific agreements, joint operations or detailed implementation plans. Reuters reported, citing a senior Iranian official, that Iran’s nuclear programme was not discussed during the meeting. The official said Tehran would not discuss the issue until Washington responded to its demands for ending the war. The Tehran meeting established a platform for continued dialogue among the four countries, although officials have not announced a date for the next meeting or outlined further steps. For now, the participants have committed to maintaining cooperation on regional peace and security without specifying additional measures.
