Iran Executes Two Men Convicted of Spying for Israel

Tehran, 3 August , 2026 (Kamran Raja): Iran has executed two men convicted of spying for Israel and providing sensitive military intelligence, according to the country’s judiciary. The judiciary-affiliated Mizan News Agency identified the executed individuals as Omid Behzad and Pouria Safvat. The executions were carried out on Monday after the men were found guilty of sharing classified military and security information with Israel. According to Iranian authorities, the two men supplied Israel with the locations, photographs, and other sensitive details related to Iranian military and security installations. Officials alleged that the intelligence was used to facilitate attacks on key military sites.

The judiciary further stated that the accused had passed critical security information to Israel during the conflict that began on February 28, as well as during a brief war last year, compromising Iran’s national security. Separately, Reuters reported that a source familiar with Israeli military strategy said in March that the United States and Israel had relied on ground-based intelligence to target positions of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during the recent conflict. Iranian authorities have reiterated that espionage on behalf of foreign adversaries will be dealt with under the country’s strict national security laws, emphasizing that acts threatening the nation’s security will face severe legal consequences.
