
Islamabad, 31 March 2026(Kamran Raja): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the headquarters of the NADRA and chaired a high-level meeting to review the institution’s performance and ongoing as well as future projects. During the briefing, Chairman NADRA Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar informed the minister about the authority’s operational performance, service delivery improvements, and planned initiatives. The minister appreciated NADRA’s performance and its efforts to enhance public service delivery over the past two years, directing the institution to further expand modern and citizen-friendly services.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized stronger coordination between NADRA and law enforcement agencies, particularly in supporting the identification and deportation of illegal foreign residents. He also instructed immediate identification and removal of individuals who have illegally obtained Pakistani citizenship from the national database. He directed the introduction of state-of-the-art NADRA offices in major cities, prioritizing construction on owned land rather than rented buildings, and called for a master plan in this regard. The minister further assured full ministerial-level support and inter-agency coordination to improve service delivery. Officials briefed that NADRA has significantly improved its services, implemented measures for faster resolution of identity-related issues within 30 days, cancelled millions of identity cards of deceased individuals, and, in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, is blocking SIMs registered under deceased persons. They also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen biometric verification systems, including facial recognition technology, with support from relevant institutions. Senior officials, including DG FIA Dr. Osman Anwar and top NADRA representatives, attended the meeting.
