Senior government officials, including the Interior Secretary, Additional Secretary for Religious Affairs, Secretary Information, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and Inspector General of Islamabad Police, also attended the meeting.

Participants held detailed discussions on strengthening inter-sect harmony and promoting religious tolerance during Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting decided to take strict action against individuals using social media platforms to spread sectarianism, hatred, and incitement.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that maintaining strong and continuous engagement with religious scholars remains a key priority of the Ministry of Interior. He announced that the Paigham-e-Amn Committee would be further activated and strengthened at the district level to ensure its effectiveness across the country.

The Interior Minister stated that public awareness campaigns against terrorism and extremism, based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah, are the need of the hour. He urged religious scholars to guide the public regarding Islamic teachings, emphasizing that Islam does not permit rebellion against the state or the spread of disorder and chaos.

Mohsin Naqvi also announced the appointment of a dedicated coordinator for the Paigham-e-Amn Committee to improve coordination and outreach. He stressed that maintaining peace and order during Muharram is a shared national responsibility.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating the recent Iran–United States negotiations. He stated that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif provided leadership throughout the diplomatic process, while Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir played a pivotal role as a leader in the practical execution of peace efforts.

Mohsin Naqvi said that all members of the national team fulfilled their responsibilities, and that the historic agreement between the two countries was achieved through collective teamwork. He noted that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was regarded by all parties as a trusted figure during the negotiations.

According to the Interior Minister, several countries had attempted to facilitate dialogue between the parties but were unable to achieve success. He stated that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s candid and forthright approach helped strengthen mutual trust and advance the peace process.

Recalling a critical stage of the negotiations, Mohsin Naqvi said that only a few hours remained before the expiration of a ceasefire and no breakthrough had been achieved. At that moment, Field Marshal Asim Munir appealed to the Iranian negotiators by stressing the importance of saving human lives and avoiding renewed conflict. The intervention, he said, helped move the talks forward and contributed to a successful outcome.

The Interior Minister also referred to Pakistan’s recent conflict with India, stating that divine support and national unity played an important role during challenging circumstances. He remarked that similar moments occurred during the Iran–United States negotiations, where potential escalations were repeatedly avoided and peace efforts ultimately prevailed.

Mohsin Naqvi concluded by emphasizing that while every member of the team contributed to the success of the negotiations, credit naturally goes to the leader and captain who guided the process during difficult times.

Participants in the meeting paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their efforts in supporting peace and stability.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry praised the valuable role played by the Paigham-e-Amn Committee in fostering national cohesion and promoting peace across the country.

The meeting concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s security, stability, prosperity, and lasting peace.
