DUBAI, 08 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Indian singer Nisar Wayanad, whose voice closely resembled that of award-winning Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan, has died at a Dubai hospital just hours before he was scheduled to perform at a musical event in Ajman. The 44-year-old singer, whose official name was Nissar Aroth Ibrahim, hailed from Kampalakkad in Kerala’s Wayanad district and had travelled to the United Arab Emirates in August for a series of musical programmes. According to media reports, he was admitted to hospital on Saturday afternoon after developing a high fever. His sudden death has left the Malayali community in the UAE shocked, as he was also scheduled to perform in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Medical records reportedly listed acidosis as the direct cause of death, while systemic inflammatory response syndrome of infectious origin with organ failure was recorded as the leading cause and septicaemia as the underlying cause. Nisar was known for his Mappilapattu performances and had sung and acted in several Mappila song albums in addition to working as a playback singer. His stage name reflected his roots in Wayanad, and he had also shared the stage with Udit Narayan at a musical event in Bahrain.
