
Istanbul, 17 April 2026 (KamranRaja):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has reiterated Pakistan’s sincere desire for global peace and resolution of disputes through sustained dialogue and engagement, stressing an end to wars and conflicts.He arrived here in Istanbul to lead Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation at the 152nd General Assembly meeting of the Inter Parliamentary Union. Out of the 183 Member national parliaments of the IPU, over 136 are present in the Turkish capital to deliberate on the Conference theme: *Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations.
Pakistan’s ongoing peace efforts have drawn significant international attention, as a chain of Speakers from around the world made a beeline to meet and congadulate Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the members of Pakistan Parliamentary delegation for enabling Iran and the United States to come to negociating table for the first time in the last fourty-seven years.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, joined by the Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, held extensive meetings with the Speakers and delegations of the Gulf Countries and Iran, advising all sides to refrain from targetting one another in order to bring harmony in the Region. He stressed patience and adoption of a pragmatic approach in order to resolve the differences mutually.
Prominent among those meeting the Speaker were Oman’s Chairman of the Shura Council Dr. Khalid Al Maawali, Speaker of Qatar Mr. Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE Mr. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain Mr. Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam and Mr. Manouchehr Mottaki, the former Foreign Minister of Iran who is leading Iranian Parliamentary Delegation to the Istanbul Conference.
In his meeting with the Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was warmly received and congradulated by his Qatari counterpart, who termed the efforts made by Pakistan as historic. He further added that the peace initiative of Pakistan had made every Muslim feel proud as these efforts also focused on forging unity amnog the Muslim Ummah. The two sides regretted the escalations of tensions among the GCC countries and Iran and called for an immediate end to all hostalities against all countries of the Region. Such tension among Muslim brotheren, the two sides agreed, were in fact strengthening the nefarious designs of Israel.
Later on, he also met with his Bahraini and UAE counterparts,while Speaker Ayaz Sadiq strongly condemned the attacks on the GCC countries inculding Bahrain and the UAE by Iran, he stressed caution and called for restraint.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq lamented the fact that as Muslims were pitched against each other, the enemies of the Muslim world, especially Isreal had a field day. This was surely not in the interest of the Muslims, who longed for unity in order to jointly focus on issues like the plight of Palistine, Kashmir and other areas.
These sentiments were resonated in the meeting with the Chairman of the Shura Council of Oman Dr. Khalid Al Maawli, who termed Pakistan’s role in the present crisis as a role-model for every Muslim. The two sides stressed removing diffrences among the Muslim Ummah as any escalation in the conflict would only bring damage and loss to the Muslims, no matter which side of the divide.
Mr. Monocheher Mottaki, the head of the Iranian Parliamentary delegation and his country’s former Foreign Minister warmly hugged and thanked Speaker Ayaz Sadiq for Pakistan’s unweavering support to Iran in these testing times. He observed that time would pass but the Iranian nation would never forget the role of its Pakistani brothers and sisters, especially the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and above all, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq advised the Iranian parliamentarian to act wisely. The realities of geography, he noted, could not be changed and countries had to respect and live in peace with their neighbouring states. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq reitrated Pakistan’s firm resolve to build bridges among the Muslim World in order to forge unity of the Ummah.
In view of the austarity drive, a small contengent of Members of both houses of Pakistan’s parliament is participating in the Conference and the Members of the delegation decided to bear the costs of the visit themselves. The delegation includes, besides Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Law Minister Senator Azam Tarar, Senator Talha Mehmood, SenatorAmir waliuddin chishti Chishti, Dr. Sharmlia Farouqi MNA, Mr. Asad Alam Niazi MNA and Mr. Farhan Chishti MNA.
