Makkah, 21 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani, a recognised muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, passed away on Monday after delivering his final Fajr adhan at the holy mosque earlier in the day. According to reports, Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani had been undergoing treatment for an illness before his death, although the cause of death was not immediately disclosed. His funeral prayer is scheduled to be offered after the Asr prayer at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, following which he will be laid to rest at Al-Mualla Cemetery. Al Madani was known for delivering the Fajr adhan and takbeerat at the Grand Mosque and also assisted in relaying the imam’s takbeers to worshippers through the mosque’s sound system. Born in Madinah in 1976, he came from a religious family and studied Quranic sciences. He began serving as a muezzin at the age of 15 at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah and later continued the service alongside his education. He was formally appointed as a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in 1439 AH, corresponding to 2017-18. News of his death prompted condolences, while recordings of his adhan and takbeerat from the Grand Mosque were widely shared on social media.
