
ISLAMABAD, 10 September 2026(Nosheen): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has appointed Dr. Talat Shabbir as Advisor to FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh.
Dr. Shabbir is a scholar, policy analyst and expert in international relations and strategic affairs. He will advise the FPCCI President on international trade, economic diplomacy, public policy and global engagement. The appointment is part of FPCCI’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s economic diplomacy, promote trade and investment, and improve engagement with regional and international business organizations. FPCCI represents Pakistan’s private sector through 308 trade bodies, including chambers of commerce, women’s chambers, chambers of small traders, joint chambers and national trade associations.
Dr. Shabbir will also help strengthen FPCCI’s engagement with government institutions, diplomatic missions, think tanks, international organizations and business forums. He will support efforts to promote Pakistan’s trade and investment interests at international platforms. Welcoming the appointment, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said Dr. Shabbir’s experience in regional and global affairs, policy research and strategic issues would help strengthen FPCCI’s policy advocacy and international economic engagement.
Dr. Talat Shabbir said he was honoured by the confidence placed in him and looked forward to working with Pakistan’s business community to promote evidence-based policies, strengthen economic diplomacy and improve Pakistan’s trade, investment and global competitiveness. Dr. Shabbir has extensive experience in international relations, strategic affairs, policy research and institutional engagement. His appointment is expected to help FPCCI better connect private-sector interests with the changing geopolitical and geo-economic environment. The appointment also reflects FPCCI’s commitment to bringing experienced professionals and experts into its advisory framework to support export growth, private-sector development and Pakistan’s integration with regional and global markets.
A brief ceremony was held at the FPCCI Capital Office. FPCCI Vice President Tariq Mehmood Jadoon and Incharge Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik were among those who attended.
