LAHORE, 25 Aug, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Emerging Pakistan fast bowler Qayyum Khan has revealed the former national pacers who inspired his journey in cricket as he continues to attract attention with his impressive pace. Qayyum, who hails from Jhang, Punjab, is being regarded as one of the promising young fast-bowling prospects in Pakistan cricket. The right-arm pacer has regularly bowled at speeds between 145 and 150 km/h. Last month, Pakistan men’s team selector and Director of the High Performance Center Aqib Javed described Qayyum as a promising discovery from Jhang. “We have found a new gem from Jhang, Qayyum, who can bowl at 150 kmph and even faster,” Aqib Javed said, while acknowledging the current shortage of genuine fast bowlers and fast-bowling all-rounders in Pakistan. Qayyum has so far featured only in departmental Grade 2 Silver-level cricket for Punjab but has gained recognition for his raw pace and potential. Speaking to a private television channel, Qayyum discussed his cricketing journey and revealed how he progressed through tape-ball cricket before making his way into competitive cricket. His emergence has generated considerable interest among cricket followers, with his pace and potential raising hopes that he could develop into a future asset for Pakistan’s national team.
