11 October, 2026 (Ghufran): Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been provisionally suspended after the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) initiated disciplinary proceedings over his departure from the national team camp. According to Portuguese media reports, the 41-year-old forward left Portugal’s squad base in Copenhagen ahead of the Nations League match against Denmark following a reported disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus over his role in the team. Ronaldo, who remained an unused substitute in the match against Norway, had accused the coach of breaking his word twice regarding his position in the squad. Jesus denied making any agreement with the player but indicated that Ronaldo could return to the national team. The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed that disciplinary proceedings had been initiated and that the case had been given urgent status. FPF President Pedro Proença said the federation, the coaching staff, Ronaldo and his teammates all wanted the captain to return once the matter was resolved. However, he emphasized that the final decision would rest with the federation’s independent Disciplinary Committee. Ronaldo apologized on Tuesday for failing to acknowledge supporters after the Norway match and for leaving his teammates, while also confirming his willingness to remain available for selection after serving any punishment imposed in connection with the incident.
