New York, 16 September 2025 (Kamran Raja): The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, in collaboration with the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), organized a community networking session at the Consulate premises, bringing together prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora, academia, and business community.
His Excellency Mr. Rizwan Saeed Shaikh, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, in his keynote remarks, underscored the critical role of academia in driving Pakistan’s socioeconomic progress. He reaffirmed the Embassy and Consulates’ commitment to supporting premier institutions like NUST in advancing innovation, research, and human capital development. The Ambassador lauded NUST’s contributions as a leading center of excellence, noting its vital role in preparing Pakistan’s youth to meet global challenges.
The session featured a detailed presentation by Dr. Rizwan Riaz, Pro Rector of NUST, who briefed participants on the university’s transformative initiatives, research ecosystem, and key development projects. He emphasized NUST’s focus on international alignment, strengthening industry-academia partnerships, and expanding access to education for deserving students through scholarships and diaspora engagement.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to fostering linkages between Pakistan’s leading universities and the diaspora community in the United States. He stressed that the Consulate General remains dedicated to facilitating partnerships that enhance Pakistan’s educational advancement, innovation capacity, and global competitiveness.
A major highlight of the evening was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NUST and Emaago, a global technology company specializing in Cyber and Artificial Intelligence. The MoU, signed by Mr. Hasham Masood, Strategic Advisor at Emaago, and Ms. Arooba Gilani on behalf of NUST, commits Emaago to supporting NUST through scholarships and internship programs. These initiatives are aimed at enabling deserving students to access quality education and gain professional exposure in cutting-edge fields.
The event concluded with appreciation for the joint efforts of the Consulate, NUST, and Emaago in strengthening education, innovation, and community engagement through collaborative partnerships.
