Rawalpindi, 8 December 2025(Kamran Raja): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, was presented with a Tri-Services Guard of Honour at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today to mark the formal institution of the appointment of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF). Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI(M), Chief of the Naval Staff; Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff; and senior military officers from all three services attended the ceremony.
Addressing the officers of the tri-services, the COAS & CDF lauded the extraordinary courage and conviction demonstrated by the people of Pakistan, particularly the professionalism of the valiant men and women of the Armed Forces during Marka-e-Haq. He noted that the Multi-Domain Operations executed during the conflict have become a textbook example and a global case study for future warfare. He paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, stating that they will forever remain the pride of the nation.
Highlighting the need for a formalized framework for tri-services integration, Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized that the Armed Forces must remain aligned with evolving realities of warfare, which now encompass emerging technologies across cyber space, the electro-magnetic spectrum, outer space, Information Operations, Artificial Intelligence, and Quantum Computing. He termed the establishment of the new CDF Headquarters as historic, as it will provide the integration, coherence, and coordination required to meet the challenges of future threat spectrums under a unified tri-services structure.
In his concluding remarks, the COAS & CDF outlined his vision for the Armed Forces of Pakistan — a culturally futuristic, combat-ready military force that deters aggression and holds the unwavering confidence of the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to the heroes of Marka-e-Haq from the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force in recognition of their valour and outstanding service during the war.
