New York, August 10, 2025(Kamran Raja): The Allama Iqbal Community Center (AICC NY) hosted the Brooklyn Mela 2025 Pakistan Independence Day Celebration, bringing together a large gathering of Pakistani-Americans from across the tri-state area for a vibrant display of national pride and cultural heritage.
On behalf of Consul General Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Deputy Consul General Mr. Umar Sheikh attended the festivities and delivered remarks marking the occasion.
Mr. Sheikh dedicated this year’s Independence Day to the valor and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, noting that the success in Operation “Bunyan al-Marsous” reflected the nation’s steadfast resolve and capability to safeguard its sovereignty. He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to peace but will respond decisively to any aggression.
He also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Pakistani-American community, praising their role in supporting Pakistan through philanthropy, investment, and advocacy. Mr. Sheikh urged continued unity and active engagement for the country’s development and prosperity.
The Mela featured live music, children’s performances, and a bustling cultural bazaar offering traditional food, jewelry, and clothing, creating a festive, family-friendly environment that celebrated Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
The Deputy Consul General expressed gratitude to AICC NY and its leadership for organizing a spirited and inclusive celebration that strengthened bonds within the community and reaffirmed ties with the homeland.
