China to Send Special Envoy to Middle East to Help Ease Regional Tensions

Beijing, 27 October, 2026 (Nosheen): China has expressed serious concern over the escalating conflicts in the Middle East and surrounding regions and announced plans to send a special envoy to relevant countries in the near future to promote dialogue and prevent further deterioration of the situation. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the announcement during a regular press briefing on Tuesday, calling on all concerned parties to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiations. He also expressed concern over the potential spread of the Middle East conflict to the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region. Guo said the special envoy would visit countries in the affected regions to strengthen communication with relevant parties, promote diplomatic engagement, ease tensions and prevent the conflict from escalating further. The announcement comes as senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan held talks with Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday to help de-escalate the regional conflict. Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi movement launched fresh attacks on Saudi Arabia, while Egypt approved defence support for the Gulf kingdom. Tensions between the United States and Iran have also intensified, with US President Donald Trump recently warning that Washington could launch another military operation against Tehran. Last week, the foreign ministers of China and Djibouti met in Beijing and agreed that reducing tensions in the Middle East was essential to addressing security challenges in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. China’s latest diplomatic initiative reflects growing international concern that the conflict could spread beyond the Middle East, threatening regional stability, maritime security and international trade routes.
