Prime Minister of Pakistan and European Union Ambassador met today
The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and European Union Ambassador Riina Kionka met today.
In addition to expressing gratitude for the EU leaders’ congratulations on his reelection, the prime minister said he was looking forward to close collaboration with the organisation. According to him, Pakistan and the EU have amicable and cordial relations. He also expressed pleasure with the institutional processes that are in place and meet frequently to discuss ways to improve collaboration. The Prime Minister specifically expressed gratitude for the EU’s ongoing assistance to Pakistan under the GSP Plus programme, which has been extended through 2027.
Additionally, he conveyed Pakistan’s desire to interact positively with the European Union’s Global Gateway Strategy via the European Investment Bank. The Prime Minister requested assistance from the EU in the form of knowledge and consulting to enable Pakistan to implement significant sectoral reforms. The Prime Minister was informed by the EU Ambassador on a number of cooperation projects, such as the two sides’ continued discussion of migration and mobility concerns and the facilitation of European companies doing business in Pakistan. There was also discussion about the status of the effort to resume flights from Pakistan to EU nations.
