A high-level security meeting was held at the headquarters Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) under the chairmanship of DG Rangers (Sindh) Major General Azhar Waqas. Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rand, DIGCTD, DIGs (Special Branch, East, South, West, CIA and Traffic), Police, Rangers and senior officers of sensitive institutions participated in the meeting. A detailed review of the law and order situation of Karachi city, prevention of street crimes, snatching and other crimes and especially security in connection with the New Year celebrations was done.

In the meeting, instructions were issued regarding the current law and order situation in Karachi and law enforcement agencies to speed up joint operations of Rangers and police against habitual criminals and to make the checking process at the entrances and exits of the city more stringent. During the meeting, a joint plan was drawn up by the Rangers, Police and other enforcement agencies to make the security of the New Year celebrations fool-proof and to make the patrolling and snap checking process at inter-provincial checking points more effective.
In light of the orders issued by the government in the meeting, it was decided to ensure the prohibition of double riding on motorcycles including aerial firing on the occasion of New Year and to take strict action against those who violate the law.
