Pakistan Successfully Tests Indigenous Fa’az Air-to-Air Missile

Islamabad, 4 November, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistan has successfully completed the flight test of its first locally developed Fa’az air-to-air missile, marking a major advancement in the country’s indigenous defence and aerospace technology, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). In a statement, the military’s media wing said the missile features an advanced terminal guidance system and is designed to engage aerial targets at extended ranges. The ISPR noted that the new weapon system would improve the operational flexibility of the Pakistan Air Force and further reinforce the country’s defence capabilities. It added that the successful test reflected the growing technical expertise, innovation and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry. Senior officers of the armed forces, along with scientists and engineers involved in the missile’s development, witnessed the test. The president, prime minister, chief of army staff and chief of defence forces, as well as the services chiefs, congratulated the scientists and engineers on the achievement. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the successful test, calling it a significant accomplishment for Pakistan’s defence sector and expressing pride in the capabilities of the country’s scientific and engineering community. The development follows recent successful tests of other indigenous missile systems, including the extended-range Fatah-2 ballistic missile and an enhanced version of the Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile. According to the ISPR, these systems incorporate advanced guidance, navigation and manoeuvrability features, strengthening Pakistan’s precision-strike capabilities and overall defence preparedness.
