Everton Beat Newcastle 3-1 to Secure League Cup Quarter-Final Spot

Liverpool, 30 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Everton booked their place in the League Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on Thursday, earning a last-eight meeting with fourth-tier Fleetwood Town. The hosts took control at Hill Dickinson Stadium through first-half goals from James Garner and Hayden Hackney before Thierno Barry extended their lead after the break. Dan Burn scored a late consolation goal for Newcastle, but Everton comfortably held on to secure the win. Everton progressed despite the absence of midfielder Jack Grealish, who was left out of the squad following an internal disciplinary breach. The club’s supporter and Prime Minister Andy Burnham was also among the spectators. Everton will now travel to face Fleetwood Town, who caused an upset by eliminating Premier League champions Arsenal in the previous round. In other quarter-final fixtures, Crystal Palace will host Sunderland, Bournemouth will visit Liverpool, while defending champions Manchester City are set to face third-tier Bradford City. The quarter-finals are scheduled to be played during the week beginning December 14.
