Rising Terrorism in KP Must Be Curbed at All Costs: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad, 7 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to curb rising terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at all costs, saying the province must be enabled to move forward on the path of development alongside other parts of the country. The Prime Minister expressed these views during a meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam. The meeting discussed matters relating to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. During the meeting, Engineer Amir Muqam briefed the Prime Minister on the latest developments and ongoing matters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the relevant authorities to continue measures aimed at improving public welfare, development and the provision of basic facilities in both regions. He said the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as the well-being of their people, remained among the government’s key priorities. Regarding the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister said the growing threat of terrorism must be brought under control through effective measures. He expressed the government’s resolve to ensure that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa achieves development and prosperity comparable to other parts of the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism, saying their invaluable contributions and sacrifices were deeply appreciated.
