Lahore, 30 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): The newly-elected Executive Committee of the Pakistan-China Friendship Association (PCFA) took oath at a ceremony held at the Lahore Gymkhana Club, with Chinese Consul General in Lahore Sun Yan as the chief guest. The oath was administered to Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt as President, Ho Yuk Bing Barbara as Senior Vice President, Dr. Kiran Khurshid as Vice President and Asad Gondal as Secretary General. Rizwan Akram Sherwani, Naveed Saeed and Dr. Farzana Riaz also took oath as members of the Executive Committee. The ceremony was attended by former CDA Islamabad Chairman Kamran Lashari, Lahore Gymkhana Club Chairman Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Government College University Vice Chancellor Dr. Omar Chaudhry and other distinguished guests. Addressing the ceremony, Consul General Sun Yan expressed confidence in the new leadership and assured his support for achieving the association’s objectives. He said the association could play an effective role in bringing the people of Pakistan and China closer and appreciated the establishment of an alumni chapter for Pakistani students who studied in Chinese educational institutions. The website of the Pakistan-China Friendship Association was also inaugurated during the ceremony. Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt said the association would work to strengthen links between educational institutions of Pakistan and China, secure more scholarships for Pakistani students and promote educational and cultural cooperation. He added that seminars, exhibitions and entertainment programmes would also be organised to strengthen people-to-people contacts. Ahead of China’s 77th National Day on October 1, Dr. Khalid Manzoor Butt and Consul General Sun Yan also cut a cake during the ceremony. At the conclusion, a commemorative shield was presented to the Chinese consul general, followed by a group photograph and tea.
