LAHORE, 29 September, 2026 (Ghufran): The Pakistan Junior Golf Team returned home to a warm and enthusiastic reception after delivering an impressive performance at the 3rd APGC Bangladesh Junior Amateur Golf Championship 2026. The national junior squad arrived in Lahore via Sri Lanka on Tuesday, where senior officials and representatives of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) welcomed the young golfers and appreciated their outstanding performances on the international stage. A special welcome ceremony was organised in honour of the successful players, during which gifts and traditional sweets were distributed. PGF officials also interacted with the golfers to discuss their performances and overseas experience, while interviews were recorded with the national players who secured championship titles in their respective categories.Pakistani golfers produced particularly strong results in the girls’ divisions. Jannat Aamir Jami of Indus Golf Club Attock demonstrated remarkable consistency and determination to win the Girls Under-15 Championship title. Lahore Gymkhana’s Nabeeha Nafees delivered a commanding performance to claim first place in the Girls Under-19 category, while fellow Pakistani golfer Areeba Rizwan finished runner-up, giving Pakistan the top two positions in the category.
The young golfers also achieved encouraging results in the boys’ divisions, with Pakistan’s Under-15 players finishing among the top five and Under-19 competitors securing positions in the top ten. The performances reflected the growing potential of Pakistan’s junior golfers and provided valuable international experience to the emerging players. According to the Pakistan Golf Federation, the success represents an important milestone for its Junior Development Programme, launched in January 2026. The programme, spearheaded by PGF Manager Malik Kamran, who holds Game Development and High Performance certification from the PGA of Australia, focuses on identifying emerging talent from across the country, providing structured training and creating equal opportunities for young golfers to compete at national and international levels. The initiative has also received international recognition, with world golf governing body The R&A inviting the Pakistan Golf Federation to showcase its junior development model at the Global Alliance Best Practices Exchange. The Bangladesh tour provided the young golfers with an opportunity to put the programme’s structured grassroots approach into practice while gaining exposure to international competition.
The national junior squad included Jannat Aamir Jami, Nabeeha Nafees, Areeba Rizwan, Wareesha Shahid Malik, Dua Fareed Rao, Muhammad Musa Adil Warraich, Behzad Murtaza, Mustafa Zubair and Muhammad Baariq Ayub. The Pakistan Golf Federation congratulated the players and their parents for their support and acknowledged Team Manager Tehmina Ali for her administrative leadership. The federation also appreciated the Bangladesh Golf Federation for its hospitality and cooperation during the championship. The PGF said the tour was aimed not only at achieving podium finishes but also at giving young golfers valuable exposure to competitive pressure and diverse international playing conditions. The federation reaffirmed its commitment to structured training, talent development and increased international exposure to further strengthen junior golf and build a strong pipeline of future Pakistani golfers.
