Prevention Key to Fighting Rising Heart Diseases in Pakistan:PANAH The Pakistan Times

Rawalpindi, 27 September 2026 (Nosheen):The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized an awareness ceremony on World Heart Day to highlight the growing burden of heart diseases and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pakistan.Chief Guest Maj Gen (R) Prof. Muhammad Suhail Ameen, Vice Chancellor Rawalpindi Medical University, stressed that awareness, prevention and timely action are essential to building a healthier society.

Commandant and Executive Director AFIC-NIHD Maj Gen Nadir Khan also attended the event and expressed concern over the alarming rise of NCDs.President PANAH Major General (R) Masud Ur Rehman Kiani urged people to adopt healthy lifestyles, including regular physical activity, a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding smoking and reducing stress. He emphasized reducing the consumption of foods high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats.Health and Nutrition Expert Munawar Hussain called for stronger public health policies and urged the government to implement mandatory Front-of-Pack Warning Labels (FOPWL) without further delay. He said clear warning labels can help consumers identify unhealthy products and make informed choices.PANAH General Secretary Sana Ullah Ghumman reaffirmed PANAH’s commitment to promoting a healthy youth and a healthier Pakistan through awareness, advocacy and policy engagement.
