
Islamabad, 15 September 2026(Kamran Raja): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Ambassador Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and a candidate for the office of United Nations Secretary-General, late Monday night.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed the evolving regional situation and agreed that the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remained the best course of action to help defuse tensions.
Ambassador Grossi offered technical support should the need arise, the Foreign Office said.
During the conversation, Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to advancing the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and respecting international law and treaties.
He also underscored the crucial role of the United Nations system in advancing the global agenda for peace and development.
Senator Ishaq Dar wished Ambassador Grossi success in his campaign for the position of UN Secretary-General.
