ISLAMABAD, 11 September 2026 (Nosheen): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assured Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai that the constitutional procedure will be fully followed in the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and new members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). According to sources, the opposition leader has received the prime minister’s reply to his letter regarding the upcoming appointments to the electoral body. In his response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured that all constitutional requirements and procedures would be observed while making the new appointments to the ECP. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai held a meeting with Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, during which Achakzai briefed him on the contents of the prime minister’s letter. The two leaders also agreed to share the development with other opposition leaders and discuss the matter further.
