LAHORE, 08 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Pakistani music has achieved a major global milestone as ‘Pasoori’, the popular Coke Studio collaboration by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, has become the first Pakistani-made music video to surpass one billion views on YouTube. Released in February 2022, the song quickly transformed from a local hit into an international sensation and became one of Pakistan’s most successful musical exports. Produced by Xulfi and Abdullah Siddiqui, ‘Pasoori’ was the most-streamed Pakistani song on Spotify in 2022 and has continued to attract millions of listeners worldwide. More than 90 percent of the song’s YouTube views have reportedly come from outside Pakistan, with the official music video reaching audiences in more than 60 countries. The song also featured on the soundtrack of the international series Ms. Marvel, further introducing Pakistani music and cultural influences to global audiences. ‘Pasoori’ has inspired numerous covers in Pakistan, India and other countries, while a Coke Studio Africa remix brought Ali Sethi together with Nigerian artists Marwan Moussa and Reekado Banks. The achievement marks a significant moment for Pakistani music, cementing ‘Pasoori’ as a landmark global success beyond its status as a viral hit.
