Remand of Suspects in Hina Javed Murder Case Extended

RAWALPINDI, 29 August, 2026 (Ghufran): A district and sessions court in Rawalpindi on Saturday extended the physical remand of two suspects in the murder case of digital media executive Hina Javed by another four days for further investigation. The suspects, Faisal Asghar, husband of the deceased, and domestic worker Zeeshan, were presented before the court after the expiry of their initial three-day physical remand. Deputy Public Prosecutor Rehman Shaukat Bhatti appeared on behalf of the police and sought a seven-day extension in physical remand. He told the court that investigators needed to recover documents related to Asghar’s divorce from his first wife and his subsequent marriage to Hina Javed. After hearing the arguments, the court granted a four-day physical remand and directed police to produce both suspects before the court on September 2.

Hina Javed, a digital media executive, was found dead at her residence in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area on August 20. Her body was found tied to a shower in the bathroom. During the previous hearing on August 26, Advocate Shah Khawar, counsel for the deceased’s family, had said that the police investigation was progressing in the right direction. He said investigators had collected evidence and conducted forensic examinations. The latest development comes two days after domestic worker Zeeshan allegedly confessed to strangling and torturing Hina Javed, according to police sources. Sources said Zeeshan told investigators that he had been called to the house during a marital dispute between Hina and her husband. According to the account, Hina attempted to flee during the altercation, after which Faisal and Zeeshan allegedly grabbed her. Zeeshan reportedly confessed that he pressed her throat when she resisted. The domestic worker also allegedly admitted to frequently stealing from the household, according to police sources. Police sources said Hina’s father-in-law had initially informed police that thieves had broken into the house. When police reached the residence, they found Hina’s body tied to a shower in the bathroom. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hina Javed’s death is continuing.
