Islamabad, 15 August 2026(Kamran Raja): President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has conferred the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) upon Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), in recognition of his outstanding services to the field of education.
The national honour was conferred on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day in acknowledgment of Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood’s valuable contributions towards the promotion of education, provision of quality learning opportunities, professional development of teachers, advancement of research and improvement of educational institutions.
His leadership, vision and commitment have played an important role in promoting positive and effective initiatives in the education sector and strengthening academic standards.
The conferment of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz represents not only national recognition of Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood’s services but also a matter of pride for Allama Iqbal Open University.
Deans, professors and principal officers of the university congratulated the Vice Chancellor on receiving the prestigious national award and described the honour as a proud achievement for the entire university community.
They expressed the hope that the recognition would further encourage efforts towards excellence in education, research and academic development and inspire the university community to continue contributing to the advancement of Pakistan’s education sector.
