Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressing satisfaction over the COVID-19 situation being under control in Pakistan
By the grace of Allah, the situation of Covid-19 in Pakistan is under control: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. 100% vaccination of five to twelve year old children should be ensured on an emergency basis. Screening of traffic at Pakistan’s borders and airports should be made more effective. Third party inspection of screening system at borders and airports should be done and report submitted. Not a single death due to Covid-19 in Pakistan in the last 15 weeks is a welcome development. The whole nation, including me, is grateful to the vaccine donating countries. Low rate of covid-19 infection is welcome but we have to be prepared all the time. The efforts of all officials and NCOC for taking steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are commendable. Every review meeting on the situation of Covid-19 in the country under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
The meeting was informed in detail about the current situation of covid-19 in the whole world including the region and in Pakistan, new types of covid-19, measures taken to prevent them and vaccination. The meeting was told that there is no apparent threat to Pakistan from the new type of covid-19 because 90 percent of the population of Pakistan is fully vaccinated and 95 percent of the population is partially vaccinated. The vaccination rate among 3.5 million children aged 5 to 12 years is 25 percent, while it will be increased to 100 percent in the coming months. The average rate of infection in Pakistan is 0.2 to 0.5 percent and there has been no death from covid-19 for the last 15 weeks. The meeting was further informed that effective arrangements have been made at the border to prevent the spread of new types of Covid-19. Along with this, the rate of random sampling at the airports has been increased to 2% and along with the fumigation of the planes coming from the affected countries; the screening of the passengers has also been made more effective. The meeting was told that thanks to the government’s initiatives and the special attention of the Prime Minister, Pakistan is one of the few countries in the world in which genome surveillance has been ensured, thanks to which new types of viruses can be identified very quickly.
The Prime Minister appreciated the measures taken by the Ministry of National Health Services, NCOC officials and civil aviation authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
