Pakistan, China Reaffirm Strategic Partnership at SCO Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

Islamabad, 24 July 2026(Kamran Raja): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders held a warm and productive discussion covering Pakistan-China bilateral relations, regional developments, and cooperation in multilateral forums, particularly within the SCO framework.

During the meeting, Senator Ishaq Dar thanked Foreign Minister Wang Yi for acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. The appreciation was expressed by the Chinese foreign minister during his remarks at the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi also conveyed China’s best wishes to Pakistan for its upcoming Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) and for successfully hosting the SCO Summit in 2027.

The meeting reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, with both sides expressing their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing coordination on regional and international issues through multilateral platforms.

Pakistan is set to assume the SCO Chairmanship following the summit, marking another significant milestone in its engagement with the regional organization.
