German Embassy Hosts Screening of International Tango Documentary INTERTANGO in Islamabad

Islamabad, Pakistan 14 May 2026(Kamran Raja):The Embassy of Germany in Pakistan, in collaboration with Islamabad Marriott Hotel, hosted a special screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary INTERTANGO by German filmmaker Hanne Weyh in Islamabad.

The event brought together diplomats, members of the cultural community, media representatives, and Tango enthusiasts for an evening celebrating intercultural dialogue through music and dance. Following the screening, guests participated in an engaging Q&A session with filmmaker Hanne Weyh, followed by an open dance floor and a short introductory Tango lesson for beginners.

Welcoming the guests, Mr. Jan Gerald Krausser, Head of Communications, Cultural Affairs and Protocol at the German Embassy, emphasized the role of cultural initiatives in strengthening people-to-people connections between nations.

Speaking on the occasion, the German Ambassador to Pakistan, Ina Lepel, highlighted the universal language of Tango and the significance of intercultural exchange.

“When you mention Tango, few people would think of Germany or of Pakistan and yet INTERTANGO demonstrates in an impressive way how this beautiful dance and the emotions which come with it connect humans from Berlin to Karachi and from Buenos Aires to Milan,” Ambassador Ina Lepel said.

The evening was further enriched by the participation of members of Islamabad’s artistic and cultural circles, alongside attendees from diverse professional and social backgrounds, reflecting the growing appreciation for global cultural experiences in Pakistan.
