Field Marshal Asim Munir Engages Ahl-e-Tasheeh Ulema on National Security and Unity

Rawalpindi, 19 March 2026(Kamran Raja): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), held an interaction with Ulema of the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community in Rawalpindi, focusing on national security and the role of religious scholars in promoting societal harmony.

During the meeting, the Field Marshal highlighted the critical role of Ulema in fostering unity, tolerance, and national cohesion. He emphasized their responsibility in countering misinformation, discouraging sectarian narratives, and resisting externally sponsored efforts aimed at destabilizing Pakistan.

Referring to Operation Ghazab lil Haq, the Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism, stating that the country will not tolerate the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against its people. He underscored Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorists and their infrastructure through precise, intelligence-based operations wherever they may operate. He further stressed that the Afghan Taliban must ensure their territory is not used for acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

The Field Marshal also highlighted Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic efforts aimed at regional de-escalation and peace. He called upon Ulema to play a constructive role in strengthening unity, countering extremism, and ensuring that religious sentiments are not exploited to incite violence. He made it clear that violence within Pakistan in response to incidents occurring abroad will not be tolerated.

The participating Ulema reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability, strongly condemning violence carried out in the name of religion. They expressed full support for law enforcement agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and stability across the country.
