Islamabad, 12 Dec 2025(Kamran Raja): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Canadian High Commission have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation aimed at strengthening investment, cultural exchanges, and air connectivity between Pakistan and Canada.
Canada’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Tariq Ali Khan, held an important meeting with PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat at the PIA Head Office in Islamabad. The meeting focused on expanding collaboration in the areas of aviation, trade, tourism, and people-to-people linkages, reflecting the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
According to the PIA spokesperson, the Canadian High Commissioner assured full support for codeshare and air cargo agreements between PIA and Canadian carriers. These prospective agreements are expected to further enhance air links, streamline travel, and significantly increase trade volumes. PIA also expressed readiness to support greater access for Canadian products in Pakistani markets.
The High Commissioner invited PIA to participate in joint initiatives aimed at promoting trade and tourism, enabling the national flag carrier to expand its footprint in the vast North American market. This cooperation is expected to bolster PIA’s efforts toward expanding international connectivity and improving customer convenience.
Terming the meeting an important milestone in Pakistan–Canada relations, the PIA spokesperson stated that the airline remains committed to taking effective steps—alongside the Canadian High Commission—to enhance facilitation in air travel, trade, and economic cooperation. The Canadian High Commission also reiterated its support for future codeshare arrangements, which will play a vital role in PIA’s revival, expansion, and strengthening of its global presence.
