Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chairs a review meeting regarding his recent visit to Azerbaijan

Islamabad, 4 March 2025 (Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chairs review meeting on recent visit to Azerbaijan, directs to implement signed MoUs and agreements soon. Prime Minister directs Ministry of Commerce to present comprehensive action plan to increase current trade volume between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to $2 billion. The Prime Minister has formed a committee under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding the announcement of $2 billion investment in Pakistan by the President of Azerbaijan. The committee will ensure preparations for agreements in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The Prime Minister has directed to complete all preparations on priority basis before the Azeri President’s expected visit to Pakistan next month.

The Prime Minister has directed the posting of trade officers in all countries, including Azerbaijan, where there is a vast potential for trade with Pakistan. The Prime Minister said Pakistan and Azerbaijan have long-standing brotherly relations spanning decades. We are taking steps on a priority basis to fully exploit the vast potential for trade and investment between Pakistan and the Central Asian states. The Prime Minister was briefed about the joint business forum held in Baku and was informed that 83 Pakistani and 101 Azerbaijani companies participated in the forum. The meeting was informed that during the Prime Minister’s visit, 13 MoUs and agreements were signed between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to promote bilateral cooperation. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Jam Kamal Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr. Mosaddiq Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and relevant senior officials.
