Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Health, together with Ayesha Raza Farooq, Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication paid a joint visit to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to get a first-hand update on polio campaign progress.
This week Pakistan launched the largest ever sub-national polio campaign targeting 33m children under five.
The Prime Minister’s health leadership team got a real time, live update from the control room to understand progress in reaching all children. More than 8.8m children were reached on day one of the campaign by teams working across 115 districts.
Their joint visit reiterates the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating polio and the Prime Minister’s resolve to reach every child with polio vaccines during the September campaign. Despite overall good progress on day one, the teams will continue to follow up on missed children in the coming days.
