Islamabad, 14 September, 2026 (Ghufran): In view of expected political and public activities in Islamabad, the federal government has decided to strengthen security arrangements in the capital and sought 23,500 police personnel from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. The Cabinet Secretary has written letters to the provincial governments, while the Cabinet Division has also issued a notification regarding the availability and deployment of the required police force. According to the notification, 15,000 police personnel will be provided by Punjab, 8,000 by Sindh and 500 by Balochistan. The three provinces have been directed to deploy the required personnel in Islamabad by September 20. Sources said more than 1,000 containers are being arranged to deal with possible protests and rallies in the federal capital, while over 100 containers have already been placed at key locations. Anti-riot units, special equipment and other necessary crowd-control resources have also been put on alert. In view of the situation, security measures are being further strengthened at entry and exit points of the capital, important government buildings and other sensitive locations.
