Karachi, 14 April 2026(Kamran Raja):The Interior Minister laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha, paying rich tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Coast Guards. He stated that the martyrs rendered unparalleled sacrifices for safeguarding the country’s coastal areas and their sacrifices will always be remembered.

During the visit, the Minister was briefed on the professional training and operational preparedness of the Pakistan Coast Guards. He appreciated the force’s professional capabilities and performance.

According to the briefing, over 14,000 kilograms of narcotics were seized during the past year, with an estimated value exceeding Rs 8 billion.

The Interior Minister directed the preparation of a feasibility study for launching a ferry service from Karachi to Iraq, stating that such a service would facilitate pilgrims.

He further directed that ongoing operations against drug trafficking and smuggling be intensified, emphasizing that all resources must be utilized to curb smuggling mafias.

Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the Pakistan Coast Guards is a vital force performing duties both on land and at sea, playing an important role in peacetime as well as during challenging and wartime situations.

He assured full support and provision of necessary resources to further strengthen the force.

The Minister was also briefed on the Pasni Safe City Project.

The meeting concluded with prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs.
