MUMBAI, 27 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): India’s Virat Kohli on Sunday became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to score 15,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The 37-year-old Kohli reached the milestone with a boundary during the opening ODI against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram, achieving the feat in his 303rd ODI innings, 74 innings quicker than Tendulkar, who reached 15,000 runs in 377 innings and finished his career with 18,426 ODI runs. Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara is third on the all-time ODI run-scorers list with 14,234 runs. Kohli, who now plays only ODI cricket after retiring from Test and T20 international cricket, has said that the 2027 World Cup is expected to be his final appearance in the tournament. He was part of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team under captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20 internationals after India won the 2024 T20 World Cup.
