Thousands of citizens participated in a rally to restore peace in Bajaur, KPK
Thousands of citizens came out on the streets to restore peace in Bajaur district of Khair Pakhtunkhwa province and raised slogans demanding an end to terrorism in the region. Apart from political and social activists, people from all walks of life, including businessmen and youth, participated in the peace march, which was organized by the Bajaur Peace Action Committee, a coalition of political parties. In March, tribal elders, traders, social workers and youth demanded restoration of peace in the district.
The participants of the march held white flags and placards in their hands, the participants raised slogans in support of peace and against terrorism in the region, especially the tribal districts, the marchers gathered at Dubai Market near Jinnah Bus Stand at 10 o’clock yesterday. Provincial General Secretary of Awami National Party Sardar Hassan Babak, National Democratic Moment leader and National Assembly member Mohsin Dawar, Pashtun Protection Moment leader Manzoor Pashteen, Provincial Assembly member Nasar Momand and others addressed the rally. He appreciated the Bajaur Peace Action Committee, local leaders and activists of political and religious parties and residents of the district for organizing a successful march. He said that it was very important to march to end the ongoing terrorism in the tribal districts. He further said that such events prove that the liberated people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province want peace, want to normalize the situation in the areas and maintain the hard-won peace.
