LOS ANGELES, 28 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Taylor Swift made history at MTV’s annual Video Music Awards by winning three awards, including Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” taking her career total to a record 33 VMAs. Swift, who had previously been tied with Beyoncé at 30 awards each, dedicated her latest honor to late country music legend Dolly Parton, praising her as “the ultimate showgirl” and saying audiences were fortunate to have shared the planet with her. “The Fate of Ophelia,” the first single from Swift’s record-breaking 2025 album “The Life of a Showgirl,” was named Video of the Year, while Swift also received the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors and won Best Direction for her “Opalite” video. Her latest video for the single “Patient Zero,” starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, also premiered during the ceremony. The VMAs were hosted by Snoop Dogg and broadcast live on CBS and MTV, with the top-category winners selected by fan votes. Pop music icon Madonna led this year’s winners with seven awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Dance Video for “Confessions II — The Film.” She also opened the ceremony with performances alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX. Carpenter joined Madonna for “Bring Your Love,” which later won Best Collaboration, while Charli XCX performed “Danceteria Afterhours.” Kacey Musgraves paid tribute to Dolly Parton by performing “I Will Always Love You.” Lisa of Blackpink won Best Pop Video for her solo song “Dream” and became emotional while thanking her fans, known as Lillies. English singer and songwriter Sienna Spiro, known for blending pop, jazz and soul, was named Best New Artist.
