United Nations, May 22, 2025(Kamran Raja): While underscoring that the protection of civilians in armed conflict is a binding international obligation, not a policy option, Pakistan has drawn the global attention to the alarming rise in violence, displacement, and disregard for humanitarian norms, citing that over 36,000 civilians were killed in conflicts in 2024 alone, and more than 122 million people were forcibly displaced.
