Review: ‘Mango Jutt’ Fails to Impress Despite Star-Studded Cast

KARACHI, 19 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistani film Mango Jutt, featuring Hareem Farooq, Faysal Quraishi and Shamoon Abbasi, has received criticism for its predictable storyline and weak narrative despite having the potential to deliver an entertaining cinematic experience. Produced by Hameem Productions, the film follows police officer Murad Jutt, played by Faysal Quraishi, who goes undercover as an ordinary man to track down a notorious criminal while also looking after his sister’s three children in Lahore. During his assignment, Murad develops a romantic connection with Noor Jehan, a school principal portrayed by Hareem Farooq, while a parallel storyline revolves around a business dispute and a plot to kidnap the children for ransom. Although the film combines action, romance, drama and dance numbers, its familiar plot developments make much of the story predictable. The review also points to the random placement of songs, unnecessary subplots and unresolved narrative details that weaken the overall impact. One example is the song “Ankhan Wich,” which appears during a fair without a clear reason within the storyline. The film also fails to adequately explain how the kidnappers discover Murad’s undercover identity, leaving an important plot point unresolved. Despite its well-known cast and several ingredients associated with commercial Punjabi cinema, Mango Jutt struggles to maintain audience engagement. The review concludes that star power alone cannot compensate for a weak script, emphasising that a successful film needs a compelling story, convincing characters and coherent storytelling to leave a lasting impression.
