President visits Chinese embassy, expresses regret for Chinese nationals killed

On behalf of the Pakistani government and people, President Asif Ali Zardari paid a visit to the People’s Republic of China’s embassy today and expressed his condolences for the deaths of Chinese nationals in a terrorist incident in Bisham. He vehemently denounced the terrorist act of yesterday and expressed Pakistan’s sympathy for the Chinese people’s suffering. In this time of sorrow, he said, the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the people of China. The President was greeted upon his arrival by Mr. Jiang Zaidong, the People’s Republic of China’s ambassador to Pakistan. On this occasion, the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also in attendance.

The President stated at the meeting that the adversaries in the area were unable to accept the reality that China and Pakistan were deepening their bilateral relations. He gave the Chinese Ambassador his word that the perpetrators of the heinous deed would be found and brought to justice. He went on to say that every effort will be made to guarantee the safety of the Chinese nationals employed in Pakistan on a variety of projects. The President’s personal visit to the Chinese Embassy to offer condolences was acknowledged by the ambassador of China. He was glad that Pakistanis of various backgrounds have denounced the terrorist strike. Mr. Jiang Zaidong emphasised the exceptional contributions Chinese labourers have made to Pakistan’s socioeconomic advancement.

He declared that because terrorists attack innocent people, they should be apprehended and destroyed as enemies of mankind. He emphasised the importance of stepping up counterterrorism cooperation and giving Chinese employees in Pakistan more security. The ambassador restated the determination of his nation to support the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other initiatives while also enhancing bilateral ties with Pakistan. The President said, “The inhuman attack struck at the core of shared values and the enduring friendship between the two countries,” as he signed the visitor’s book at the Chinese Embassy. “The enemies of the friendship between Pakistan and China orchestrated this incident,” he continued. Additionally, he stated that Pakistan will never permit terrorists to subvert our common objectives of regional security, prosperity, and peace.
