Lahore, August 21, 2025(Kamran Raja):The President of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), Syed Mohsen Gilani, has announced the appointment of former Peruvian international and experienced coach Nolberto Solano as the new Head Coach of Pakistan’s U23 and Senior Men’s National Football Teams.
Speaking at a press conference at the PFF headquarters, President Gilani highlighted Solano’s exceptional credentials and the positive impact his appointment will have on the future of football in Pakistan.
“Pakistan has never had a coach of such a high profile before,” said Gilani. “His experience will play a key role in strengthening modern football in Pakistan, motivating our players, and providing valuable learning opportunities for our local coaches.”
President Gilani also revealed a historic development for Pakistan football the launch of the country’s first-ever national futsal team, which is preparing to compete internationally for the very first time. He further shared that FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have assured their continued support for Pakistan’s football development.
Expressing gratitude, Nolberto Solano shared his vision for Pakistan’s football journey.
“First of all, I want to thank PFF President Syed Mohsen for giving me this opportunity. It’s a great responsibility and a challenge for me,” Solano stated. “I understand the issues Pakistan football is currently facing, but in my short time here, I’ve witnessed an abundance of talent. The players are passionate and eager to learn.”
Solano emphasized the importance of patience and long-term planning: “I truly believe we can achieve something meaningful. Our immediate focus is on the U23 squad, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got. With hard work, balance, and time, we can build a strong foundation for the future.”
The PFF leadership expressed confidence that under Solano’s guidance, Pakistan football will move towards greater international competitiveness and growth, while the launch of the futsal team marks another milestone in broadening the nation’s football horizons.
