KARACHI, 10 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistani actor Merub Ali has spoken out against the growing normalisation of online trolling, questioning the idea that mocking someone is harmless simply because the person appears to laugh along. In a recent interview, Ali said people often justify trolling by arguing that it is acceptable if the person being targeted also laughs at the joke. Expressing concern over the trend, she said that people have developed “thick skin” in response to online criticism and mockery, adding that it was sad to see trolling become so common. The actor also urged audiences to adopt a more respectful approach towards content they dislike, suggesting that viewers should simply stop watching rather than resort to personal attacks or ridicule. Emphasising the importance of responsible online behaviour, Ali challenged social media users to recognise the difference between humour and hurtful criticism.
