ISLAMABAD, 1 November, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Bollywood actor Imran Khan has received temporary relief after the Bombay High Court put on hold a government order directing him to leave India by October 28 over allegations of participating in an anti-government protest in Mumbai. The court has allowed the 43-year-old US citizen to remain in India until November 2, when the matter is scheduled for further hearing. Imran had challenged the government’s decision, with his lawyer arguing that the order was unjustified and unlawful. His appeal maintained that there was no evidence that the actor had participated in the demonstration or mobilised people to join it. The court postponed the hearing until November 2 due to technical issues and directed that the government’s exit order remain suspended in the meantime. Imran’s partner, Lekha Washington, earlier explained that they had visited the protest area along with his mother and a cousin to seek information about a friend who had been detained by police. She said they were soon surrounded by reporters. Imran later told the media that they had no demands and were not affiliated with any group. The protest had called for the resignation of India’s chief election commissioner over allegations of irregularities in voter lists. The actor’s legal case remains pending before the Bombay High Court.
