Gilgit-Baltistan Government and UNICEF Collaborate to Enhance Healthcare Facilities and Child Welfare

Gilgit-Baltistan government and UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) has signed a significant partnership to establish essential healthcare facilities in the region. In a landmark agreement, valued at five million dollars, (One Billion forty three crores rupees) UNICEF will support the expansion of health-related infrastructure in 120 schools across Gilgit-Baltistan.

This groundbreaking collaboration reflects the shared commitment of UNICEF and the Gilgit-Baltistan government to enhance the health and well-being of children and mothers in the region. The agreement also encompasses the establishment of a social registry in Gilgit-Baltistan, which will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of social welfare programs.

One of the primary goals of this initiative is to provide safe and clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in schools. By doing so, we aim to create a conducive environment that promotes the overall health and hygiene of students, thereby improving their educational experience.

The Chief Secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mohiyuddin Ahmed Wani, expressed his optimism about the partnership, stating, “This agreement is a significant step towards a brighter future for the residents of Gilgit-Baltistan. The enhanced healthcare facilities and the support for child and mother care will undoubtedly have a positive and lasting impact on our region.”

This collaboration between UNICEF and the Gilgit-Baltistan government is a testament to the power of partnerships in bringing about meaningful change. Together, we strive to ensure a better quality of life for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, especially for the children and mothers who deserve the best possible care and support.
