This decision was taken when Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Asif Durrani met Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Security issues and the situation of Afghan refugees in Pakistan were discussed in the meeting.
A statement from the Afghan Foreign Office said that detention of Afghan refugees in Pakistani jails, treatment of travelers between Chaman and Aspenboldak, special facilities for traders, especially vegetables, fruits and transit goods of Afghan traders at Karachi. It was talked about.
The Afghan ministry further said that controversial security issues should be resolved through joint action committees. However, the highways should not be closed due to political and security conflicts between the two countries.
The statement added that the two countries should refrain from making open statements against each other as it would lead to major misunderstandings between the two countries.
The Afghan government wants good relations with all neighboring countries and is trying not to allow any third party to disturb the trust-based relations.
Responding to the issues highlighted by the Afghan Foreign Minister, Ambassador Asif Durrani said that he would do his best to resolve the issues arising at the crossing points between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He added that Pakistan is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in various fields and to resume education scholarships for Afghan students.
However, he emphasized that the two countries need to come together seriously to discuss and resolve security issues.
Both sides agreed that immediate steps are needed on the security front to prevent any mishap in the near future.
