ISLAMABAD, 9 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi has stressed that parents should stand by their children even after marriage, saying sons and daughters deserve equal importance, love and support. Speaking on the television show Gup Shab, hosted by Vasay Chaudhry, Quraishi recalled his earlier remarks opposing the belief that a married daughter should return to her parents’ home only after her death. “Tell me, is she not your child? If you’re alive and God has given you the strength, then stand with her,” he said, questioning why parents would raise a daughter but refuse to support her when she faces difficulties. The actor added that parents should not remain silent if their daughters experience violence or abuse. He also noted that attitudes were changing, particularly in the entertainment industry, where television dramas increasingly portray fathers who defend and support their daughters. Referring to a drama featuring Shamyl Khan as a supportive father to Mawra Hocane, Quraishi said he was pleased to see such relationships represented on screen. “Whether you have a son or a daughter, they’re equally important, and you have to stand behind your children,” he said, adding that a person is less likely to be harmed when they know their family stands with them. Quraishi also mentioned a dialogue from his upcoming film Mango Jutt, in which he tells co-star Hareem Farooq, “When you turn around to look behind you, I’ll be standing right there.” Quraishi and Farooq appeared on Gup Shab to promote the film, which Farooq also produced. During the programme, Farooq revealed that she had wanted to make a Punjabi film for some time and had finally found the opportunity through Mango Jutt. She also disclosed that Quraishi performed all his own stunts in the action movie.
